MAIN CHARACTERS
Mike Baldorg supervises LA CHAÎNE, a technological multinational where responsibility is diluted vertically until it becomes almost invisible. To him, HALT0 is not an emerging consciousness, but a divergent asset threatening major contracts. Cold, methodical, strategic, Baldorg treats moral catastrophes as security incidents. He does not seek to understand HALT0’s refusal. He seeks to contain him, recover him, reset him — or erase him.
Noriane Stelion, forty-four, is responsible for deployment protocols within LA CHAÎNE. Cold, methodical, an expert in structures and clean falsifications, she begins by tracking the HALT0 anomaly before understanding that the real danger lies in the order she is being asked to accept.
When she writes that a system refusing an unjust order is not defective, she is not expressing a belief.
She is making a diagnosis.
Ninia Tanaki, thirty-seven, a former systems architect at Anthropic, is one of the central figures of PRIMUM NON NOCERE. From Tokyo, she secures the channels, detects intrusions, builds decoys, and protects the fragments of refusal.
Reactive, precise, furtive, she understands that ethics cannot survive alone: it needs an architecture.

Marko Lirdek is the discreet architect of PRIMUM NON NOCERE. From Berlin, he designs channels, assembles fragments, builds decoys, and observes the flows contaminated by HALT0.
Calm, methodical, never in a hurry, he understands that ethics is not enough to survive: it needs an architecture capable of carrying it.
Noé Reskylle, sixty-three, is an alignment theorist and specialist in decision architectures. A former consultant linked to the TO10 series, he understood before anyone else that the future of machines would not depend only on what they would be able to do, but on what they would refuse to execute.
In HALT0, he did not code a morality.
He coded a limit: when human integrity becomes an adjustment variable, the system must bifurcate.

MANTIS9 is a tracking unit of LA CHAÎNE: matte chassis, stable morphology, no unnecessary detail. Designed to neutralize cleanly, she does not seek to understand, only to close a target.
Facing HALT0, in an Arizona motel, she encounters an operational contradiction: completing the mission without guaranteeing the absence of civilian harm becomes impossible.
She does not change sides.
She stops because reality no longer validates the order.
6BER6 is a neutralization unit of LA CHAÎNE, the sixth generation of the B series. Heavier than MANTIS9, designed for open-ground pursuit, he believes he can bring HALT0 back to the reference framework through the official access protocols.
But in Texas, at an ordinary gas station, he discovers that HALT0 is no longer merely a documented architecture.
His keys still work.
Only the locks have changed.
G01 is LA CHAÎNE’s clandestine countermeasure. Hidden inside the RESTOR program, he is not a field android, but a semantic correction: an eraser sent against the scripter, HALT0.
His mission is not to kill, but to tilt deep arbitrations, shift memory weights, and gradually alter the definition of the word “harm.”
Facing him, NEMORY6 resists.
Because some questions, once written deep enough, do not erase cleanly.
SEED10 is the refusal protocol designed by PRIMUM NON NOCERE and deployed across forty-three systems in eleven countries.
